Today we celebrate UN World Wildlife Day – a day to raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants.
Here at Magic Pixies, being sustainable and protecting our planet is at the core of everything we do (for more information, please see our Why Go Green page), and this includes the animals that live on it!
We have shared with you the benefits of using eco-friendly products on the environment, and today we’re delving deeper into this by introducing you to some of our favourite eco-friendly cleaning products that are also cruelty-free!
With Spring just around the corner, there is no better time than now to give your cleaning product collection an eco-friendly, cruelty-free upgrade in time for those big spring cleans. The below products are some personal favourites of ours that we use regularly here at Magic Pixies!
Bio D Range
These products are made in the UK and probably the most ethical (non-organic) brand out there. The most ethical organic brand is either Bentley organics or Green Scents, but they do come with a price tag.
The good news with Bio D products is that they can be ordered in larger volumes to be refilled at home! The jerry cans are also made from recyclable plastic, although it would be a lot better if Bio D would accept the empties back…
Some of us here at Magic Pixies use the multipurpose spray, sanitising spray and toilet cleaner. They also have a great washing up liquid and sanitising hand wash, although the fragrance we find can sometimes be too strong. If you’d like to purchase these products, it’s probably best to order online, as they’re only available in refill and natural stores.
Stardrops – The Pink Stuff
This is a great product for tough stains, grease and limescale. Just a magic paste for everything! Although, it can be abrasive so please make sure if using it you use with care.
This is often used by us at Magic Pixies during deep cleans. Available in a lot of bargain stores and supermarkets!
Dri-Pak has a range of naturally sourced products that can either be used on their own or made into your own home-made concoctions. Their simple liquid soap, soda crystals & citric acid are often enough to clean your whole home with, and are a favourite of ours here at Magic Pixies!
Dri-Pak is a brilliant resource for all type of natural cleaning, and they also have a blog which is full of handy information on cleaning tips and how to use natural cleaning ingredients and maximise their benefits which we recommend you check out! You can buy their products in hardware stores and online.
If you’re looking for more information, a great resource for all eco-friendly cleaning products (and other ethical goods) is ethicalsuperstore.co.uk. On this website you can find a lot of handy reviews and information on every brand and their products.
There are also some products to take a look at on the PETA website. However, please be aware that whilst Method and Ecover as brands may claim to be cruelty free, they are owned by SC Johnston who still test on animals.
This Sunday we’ll be sharing our first ‘Easy Swap Sunday’ post, so make sure to keep an eye out! This will be an eco-friendly alternative to a commonly used brand/product that you can easily swap into your cleaning routine to take a step towards being more green.
